The temps dropped and the weather looked wonderful, so decided to take a day off from my school work and head out for a long overdue stroll at Coe.

Route:
Hunting Hollow > Middle Steer > Bowl Trail > Wilson Camp > Steer Ridge Rd > Serpentine > Grizzly Gulch > Wagon Road > Phegley Ridge > Hunting Hollow.

Ended up doing 16.1 miles, 4190' of ascent. Classic Coe! :) Felt good in the home stretch down Hunting Hollow, much better than I expected after this many miles.

Part of the mission for the day was pulling caches. Archiving everything in my inventory as time allows. Too many hassles and too much whining from cachers. Verbal abuse in email and logs. Finds logged when they did not visit and sign. People celebrating the king of fake logs with events! And GS not providing any support when the CO tries to enforce the quality of his caches. Done.

My suggestions for anyone that has concerns with this approach:
* Help clean up the game by raising your concerns with Groundspeak. Let them know that bad behavior by players, cheating, allowing false finds, and such has degraded the game.
* Do the same with the cachers involved. Politely hold them accountable. Publicly, in some cases, if need be.

Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates but it is within Coe State Park.

This cache is a tribute to the handful of folks that have given me nice places to stop and catch my breath during those long nasty climbs at Coe. This is a relatively easy mental puzzle to solve. Ahhh, but getting the pieces together will required some Coe style leg work!

Thirty-four (34) caches have been placed around the south end of Coe SP, spelling out the following names.

  • Alpharomero
  • Bullit
  • Geokashers
  • Werdave

In those caches is a clue that has something like “Z = (-6.123)” or “N = 3.456”. (Not the real numbers by the way!) Your chore is to visit each of the caches, collect the clues, and map them to the names above.

  • Not all the caches may contain clues.
  • Some clues may be duplicated in multiple caches. (i.e. a “N = 3.456” in one cache is going to be “N = 3.456” in another cache, etc.)
  • Each clue has a number that corresponds to a letter in the name. Add up all the numbers.
  • No matter what, you are going to have to hump over a hill or two to get the necessary pieces.
  • When done, plug them into the following formula.
    • Final = N 37 XX.XXX W 121 ZZ.ZZZ
    • Alpharomero + Werdave = XX.XXX
    • Bullit + Geokashers = ZZ.ZZZ

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
