Une petite série de caches toulousaines pour fêter le 29 février 2012 ! ;-)

Nous déménageons un peu plus loin, pour vous faire découvrir une autre rue classée dans l'histoire de Toulouse : la rue Maletache : comme vous l'apprendra le panneau placé là, c'est du coin de cette rue, chez un boulanger, que démarra le grand incendie de 1463.
Nous vous laissons découvrir la nouvelle plaque commémorative placée récemment au 50, rue des Filatiers, concernant l'affaire Calas... et bien sûr, vous conseillons de ne pas manquer d'aller vous rafraîchir place de la Trinité !
Une dernière remarque : dans la rue Maletache, deux bornes (voir photo) ont attiré notre attention. Nous avons essayé d'en savoir plus sur elles en questionnant des habitants de la rue, mais personne ne savait. Si vous avez des renseignements et si vous voulez bien les partager avec nous... Merci d'avance ! :-)))

...Et une petite page d'histoire ici ! Parions que vous êtes passés des milliers de fois dans la rue des Filatiers, devant cette maison qui n'a l'air de rien, au n° 50, sans vous douter un seul instant que vous passiez devant ..... la maison Calas ... Vous avez entendu parler de l'affaire Calas, bien sûr ! Rappelez vous : le drame qui se déroula dans cette maison dans la nuit du 12 au 13 octobre 1761 et ses répercussions firent grand bruit.
Cette nuit là, Marc-Antoine Calas, le fils de Jean Calas, marchand linger, fut retrouvé pendu dans l'arrière boutique. Le père était un protestant notoire et l'opinion publique le soupçonna d'être coupable du crime. Le parlement le condamna en mars 1762 à être roué vif sur la place Saint-Georges jusqu'à ce que mort s'ensuive. L' atmosphère passionnelle qui entoura cette affaire incita Voltaire à mener une campagne d'opinion pour dénoncer l'intolérance.
En 1765, l'arrêt du Parlement fut cassé et Calas réhabilité.
La place de la Trinité, entre la place Esquirol et la rue des Filatiers sera en mesure de vous rafraîchir l'été avec sa jolie fontaine et l'eau prodiguée par trois sirènes de fonte.
Fonte, marbre des Pyrénées et pierre de Carcassonne forment le trio traditionnel des matériaux utilisés dans les fontaines du XIXe siècle. Ici, le bassin de marbre était à l'origine en pierre de Carcassonne. La coupe portée par les sirènes est en marbre monolithe de 2,10m de diamètre.Cette fontaine est l'oeuvre d'Urbain Vitry, jeune artiste à l'époque.
Les verrières que vous pourrez admirer sur le mur d'en face sont du peintre verrier Louis Gesta, un des artistes les plus productifs du XIXe siècle.

Ps : attention : très mauvaise réception satellite ! Pour des raisons évidentes de protection et pérénnité de la cache au milieu de la foule de moldus qui occupe constamment la place, nous vous proposons un indice très pointu et que nous voulons efficace. A small series of caches in Toulouse to celebrate Feb. 29, 2012! ;-)

We move a little further, in order to make you discover another street listed in the history of Toulouse: la rue Maletache: as you will be able to read on the board there, it is from the corner of this street, at a baker's, that the Great Fire of 1463 started.
We let you discover the new commemorative plaque recently placed at N°50, Rue des Filatiers, concerning the Calas affair.... and of course, we do recommend you to enjoy the cool atmosphere of Place de la Trinité!
One final note: in Rue Maletache, two columns (see photo), drew our attention. We tried to learn more about them by questioning the inhabitants of the street, but no one knew. If you happen to have any information and if you don't mind sharing it with us ... Many thanks in advance! :-)))

I bet you've walked thousands of times in la rue des Filatiers, and walked past this house that doesn't seem much, at No. 50, without a moment doubt that you passed ..... Calas's house ... You've heard of the Calas affair, of course! Remember: the drama which happened in this house the night of 12 to 13 October 1761 and its aftermath caused a stir. That night, Marc-Antoine Calas, the son of Jean Calas, a mercer, was found hanged in the back shop. The father was a notorious Protestant and public opinion suspected him of being guilty of the crime. Parliament condemned him in March 1762 to be broken on the wheel in the Place Saint-Georges until death ensued. The emotionally charged atmosphere that surrounded this case incited Voltaire to conduct an advocacy campaign to denounce intolerance.
In 1765, the judgment of Parliament was broken and Calas rehabilitated.
La Place de la Trinité, between the Place Esquirol and la rue des Filatiers is a cool place in the summer with its pretty fountain and the water lavished by three mermaids made of cast iron.
Cast iron, marble from the Pyrenees and stone from Carcassonne are the traditional trio of materials used in the fountains of the nineteenth century. Here, the marble basin was originally of stone from Carcassonne. The cup carried by the mermaids is of monolith marble of 2.10 m in diameter. This fountain is the work of Urbain Vitry, a young artist at the time.
The stained glass windows you can admire on the opposite wall are by the glass painter Louis Gesta, one of the most productive artist of the nineteenth century.
