Geocache Description:

Breakfast event

Enjoy the view and your breakfast from Steinsfjellet.

Steinsfjellet Mountain (228 metres above sea level) can be reached on foot or by car.

There is a good track from the car park at Toskatjørn that leads around the west side of Buafjell Mountain and onwards to Steinsfjell Mountain, which provides an excellent view of most of Haugalandet including the town of Haugesund and its surrounding districts. Information relating to the various views towards the west, south and north are to be found on the southern side of the tower at Steinsfjellet where a viewfinder is available.

From Steinfjellet Mountain, hiking trails spread out all over the surrounding terrain, leading for example to Håvåshytta Cabin, Valhest Mountain, Djupadalen Valley and Kringsjåhytta Cabin. The tower at the summit of Steinsfjellet Mountain stands 35 metres high and has become an easily recognisable landmark throughout the district.

Steinsfjellet Mountain covers approximately 8 hectares and is owned by Haugesund Tourist Association. The association received the property as a gift in 1944 from shipping magnet, F. N: Nordbø, who was keenly engaged in the development of Haugesund. The local telephone company constructed the road to the summit in 1965 in conjunction with the establishment of a link station.

The event starts at 6:30 am and ends at 9 am.

Bring your own food. It’s possible to find a lot of caches in the area.
