Jan Paweł II w czasie 8 pielgrzymek do ojczyzny odwiedził ok. 90 miast i ponad 100 razy spotkał się z nami. W Starym Sączu pozostał jedyny w Polsce Ołtarz Papieski nie przeniesiony i nie zmieniony, a wokół niego powstaje Centrum Pielgrzymowania. Ołtarz wygląda jak drewniana kapliczka (duża kapliczka) postawiona na zielonych stokach po których w lecie spływa strumień wody.
W pomieszczeniach Ołtarza Papieskiego jest Muzeum Jana Pawła II gdzie można zobaczyć wiele pamiątek – wszystkie oryginalne i niektóre bardzo wyjątkowe. (zwiedzanie za darmo)
Zbudowano przepiękny super urządzony Dom Pielgrzyma otwarty dla wszystkich gdzie można zatrzymać się tak jak w hotelu ***. Można tam pójść do kaplicy, zjeść obiad lub posiedzieć w kawiarni. Organizują tam rekolekcje i wycieczki turystyczne.

The Papal Altar
During his 8 pilgrimages to homeland, John Paul II visited about 90 cities and met with his compatriots over 100 times. In Stary Sącz, there is the only Papal Altar in Poland which still remains in its original place with no alterations in its construction either. In the Altar’s surroundings, the Centre of Pilgrimage has been established. The Altar itself looks like a wooden roadside shrine but it’s much bigger and it’s situated at the top of a green slope down which the stream of water flows in the summer.
In the Altar’s rooms there is a museum where one can find many exhibits – all of them are authentic and unique. (the entrance is FREE)
A beautiful Pilgrim’s House was built in 2010. Everyone is welcome. It’s excellently furnished and similar to ***hotels. You can stay here at any time. Guests can pray in the chapel, have dinner or spend time in the café. In the House various retreats are organized. The management organizes also touristic trips.

Stage 1
In front of the chapel in the Pilgrim’s House find John Paul II’s shoes. Double the shoe size and replace the letters A and B with the score’s numbers.
Stage 2
In the Altar there is a museum (open 08:00 – 20:00). Find the first John Paul II’s skull-cap there. Underside there is a date written down. The last number of the date is the letter C.
