Geocache Description:

Fort Ord Dunes State Park has recently undergone some changes which give it the look of a "real" state park--improved signage, updated information kiosks, a newly-paved and striped biking/hiking trail, as well as occasional restrictive fencing. However, just beyond all that lies the Ice Plant Playground...

Along with the park improvements came the need to curtail the questionable activities which occurred at the old target storage buildings. Throw up a barbed-wire fence and create an instant place of interest for the rest of us. As you grab the cache, be sure to check out the amazing graffiti on the walls inside, as well as the newly-placed information board.

7/28/12--Due to a recent cache disappearance, I have resorted to a more urban-style hide. The container is now a magnetized clear plastic vial, easily accessible from outside the fencing. Please bring your own pen to sign the log.

Park hours are 8:00am to a half hour after sunset daily. Admission is free. In addition to the main parking area just across the 8th Street bridge, parking and entry are also available on the corner of 1st Avenue and 1st Street just east of Highway 1.
