Geocache Description:

Welcome to Fuwairit Petroglyphs

This cache is located on a low sandstone ridge that runs parallel to the beach. Explore the length of the ridge looking for many and varied carvings in the rock. These are apparently from prehistoric times. However, there are some modern carvings that have been added in recent times. The carvings that you will see here are very similar to those that can be seen at the Al Jassasiya Site.
Keep your eyes open and you may be rewarded with a sighting of a dharb, a large lizard-like reptile endemic to the area.

The area is easily accessible by car via a short drive on a gravel road from the village of Fuwairit. A 4WD with reasonable clearance would be advisable. Normal precautions for venturing out into the desert should be taken.
