A Puzzling Weekend: Spring Picnic Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Fee&me: Glad everyone enjoyed themselves! Thanks to Sakidoo for helping with set-up, to NeoDorset and Weathervane for helping with clean-up, and especially to jomari for devoting half their day to helping with Everything! Thanks also to those who posted photos, as I didn't get a chance to take any.

Here's a list of the Special Prizes that were awarded. It was harder than I thought to compare a stack of Statistics Sheets on the fly; I had to make several snap "CO judgements" and I hope no one went home feeling deprived.

"Going the Distance" (longest track from Puzzle 1 to 25): 10' tape measure – awarded to lostinthegarden
"Efficiency Expert" (shortest track from Puzzle 1 to 25): 6" ruler – awarded to missbug & Nano Bearss
"Master Puzzler" (most Puzzles logged): Chinese ball puzzle – awarded to Babushka_QC
"The Challenger" (most Challenges logged): space shuttle keychain – 4-way tie; awarded to bbrimacombe w/highest total
"Double Double" (completing the Challenge twice): Tim Hortons gift certificate – tie; awarded to TigrePlus w/most attempts
"Hard Charger" (highest D/T total for 25 Puzzles): roll of Tums – awarded to GPComd
"Easy Streeter" (lowest D/T total for 25 Puzzles): chocolate loonies – deepdowndawn & Edgeman10
"The Slacker" (latest start, but still finished): "Whatever" lanyard – deepdowndawn & Edgeman10
"Lollygagger" (slowest pace from Puzzle 1 to 25): big lollipop – deepdowndawn & Edgeman10
"Jack Rabbit" (fastest pace from Puzzle 1 to 25): rabbit toy – jomari & Pokaroo
"Early Bird" (earliest start time): toy bird – jomari & Pokaroo
"First to Finish" (on Official Challenge Day - March 24): Oak Coins '?' icon pin – jomari & Pokaroo

The "Whippersnapper" prize (rubber snake) was not awarded as no one under-18 finished the Challenge. Nor was the "Runner Up" prize (sneaker keychain), which was meant for a geocacher who didn't quite meet the Challenge. It was designated for Fewest Puzzles Logged, so it could also have gone to deepdowndawn & Edgeman10 who quit after 'only' 25. For the record though, these two aren't really Slackers or Lollygaggers... they completed this Challenge on their bikes, and nowhere near Shortest Track!

Another note for the record: the team of Sens-eh, rusmart & her mom reported completing 25 Puzzles in 6 hours and 3 minutes, which beat jomari & Pokaroo's reported time by 2 minutes, although that was for 27 Puzzles. As I understand it, these folks all had breakfast together at 6:15am (after jomari & Pokaroo finished, and before Sens-eh & rusmart began) so the latter team considered themselves "challenged" and set out (and succeeded) to beat the given time. I was unaware of this during the Event, but they deserve at least an Honorable Mention!

All Challenge participants received a puzzle book (sudoku, crossword or word search) and commemorative "25" coin (also known as a quarter). As for the Puzzling banner... sorry Sens-eh, I have no explanation for it! Only that I was spray-painting those two-sided flags at the same time you were having breakfast.
