Geocache Description:

What: Micro Marathon (0.05K) Flash Mob

Who: Anyone who wants to celebrate the leap year.

Where: Meet at Sample Gates (Listed coordinates)

When: 6:00pm (Exactly!)

Why: Groundspeak wants to break a record and we want to help! Read below for the details.

The "Race"

This "race" will begin at Sample Gates, and end at Dunn Meadow. Yes, that's it! The shortest race you'll ever be a part of. When you arrive you will have to "register" by logging the log book and picking up a runner's number and attaching it to your shirt. After the race is over we will have a quick "awards" ceremony (group photo) and then it's over! Like most 5Ks and 10Ks, you don't have to run to participate. Both walkers and runners are welcome! Please treat this like a real race and dress appropriately. The more realistic it looks, the better reactions we'll get from everyone who's not involved.

Pre-Registration

To give us an idea of how many people plan to attend, please let us know you're coming by registering here: http://dft.ba/-MicroMarathon. We will also use this list to email out any important updates regarding the event.

  • 6:00pm - Registration at Sample Gates (1st Whistle)

Leap Year Record

This year Groundspeak has challenged the geocaching community to break the record of number of accounts that log a cache on a single day. To help them reach their goal, we are hosting a fun event for anyone and everyone!

Coordinates

Below are a list of a few coordinates that may be of help. Included are parking for the event, the finish line, and the Bowling Alley.

Kids are welcome!

This event is kid friendly, but we do ask that all kids be with an adult during the race. The race does not cross over any streets and will be on a sidewalk the entire time.

Questions?

If you have any questions about the event, please let us know!

Bad Weather

In the case of snow or a storm, we will only be having the bowling party at 6:30pm. This will be announced via the cache page. If it looks like there will be a storm, be sure to check the cache listing for more information.
