A cache in Keri Grove overlooking Heraklion Bay and the city of Heraklion.
Keri grove is located at an altitude of 300 meters, 9km to the west of Heraklion, near Voulismeno Aloni and to the south of the Almyros gorge. It can be accessed via a short dirt road that starts about 300m after Voulismeno Aloni, see WP1.
The grove consists of approximately 5 square kilometers and is a forest of young pine trees. Keri has been reforested in an effort to create a green park in a dry and rocky area. But the reforestation has faced some problems with fires and goats eating every green leaf in the area.
Here many tracks lead you around the grove, there are dirt roads where you can go driving or hiking or cycling.
The cache is hidden at the easternmost part of the grove, near an almost vertical cliff. The view over Heraklion Bay, Heraklion city and Ammoudara beach is magnificent, especially in the afternoon.

We placed the cache during a hike for children around Keri Grove. If you go hiking, don’t forget to take some water with you.
