CSW #12 Cranleigh South Walk
My first series of caches is a circular walk of just over 5 1/2 miles starting off along the disused railway line known as The Downs Link and passing through mostly flat countryside with some gates and a short flight of steps, but only one stile to cross. Just over half way round you will walk alongside the Wey & Arun Canal – London’s Lost Route to the Sea - some sections of which are in the process of being restored. Allow approx 3 hours for the circuit.
Suggested free parking is at N 51 08.284 W 000 29.260 for the series, although this is likely to be busy on Saturday mornings during the football season. There is an alternative pay and display car park in Village Way, Cranleigh just off the High Street.
Caches are mostly of the Traditional type with the addition of one simple Multi-cache, one Letterbox, and a final bonus Puzzle cache. Please remember to record the numbers A=1, B=2 etc from previous caches in the series for the Bonus. Containers vary in both type and size.
The Difficulty and Terrain levels have been set for the series if done at one attempt – if done as an individual cache then this one would rate as D1.5*/T1.5*
Continue along the Alfold Road again for a short distance so please take care especially if you have geokids or geodogs with you. Then turn left here at the given Waypoint N 51 07.768 W 000 30.480. In view of the fact that the footpath here passes in front of residential property it is recommended that this cache is not attempted at night.
