St Anne's church was built in 1865 as a school/church with money given by a lady called Anne Sturges Bourne who lived in Testwood House in Cooks Lane. However the church was named St Anne's because the building was started on St Anne's day.
The church was used as a school until 1893 and it was extended in 1979 to it's present size. The smaller entrance was the original entrance and the entrance that is now used is where the altar once stood.
This is a lovely church with a lot of history but there doesn't seem to be much information about it on the internet. The cache has been hidden on the church grounds with kind permission from the Church warden, but it is possible to retrieve it from the road without needing to enter the grounds. However, you are more than welcome to enter via the gate, but please be considerate especially if it's obvious there is a service taking place.
You are looking for a small tube with a screw top. When you replace the cache, could you please ensure it is well covered.
If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
