Geocache Description:

Last Known Address Kelmscott

Should be an easy find in the Dead Centre of Kelmscott, although the big trees may play havoc with your gpsr.

Due to the temporary nature of pens and pencils in my geocaches
BRING YOUR OWN WRITING IMPLEMENT!!!

I enjoyed hunting down a couple of richlink's "Last Known Address" series of caches, and having spotted a large number of cemeteries in my travels I asked richlink if I could add to the "Last Known Address" series of caches. I received a reply in the affirmative on 5 May 2009, but I couldn't find my Round Tuit, so it took me a while to place any.(See my GC1RB3G WanAus 95 - Round Tuit if you don't know what that means.)

I was wandering by after dropping some frogs beside the Canning River in Kelmscott, when I came across the St Mary-In-The-Valley Cemetery. I didn't have time to stop then, so I put the cemetery into my "Round Tuit" list. Six weeks later I picked up The Fourth - Always the First To Find TB (Ref = TB2JH2W) from GC3AVFN Burrowed time By Garde Le Roy. The Current GOAL for The Fourth includes "If you take this TB please create a brand new cache to place him in". I also picked up another frog nearby, and decided the frog should go beside the Canning River in Kelmscott, and I should finally get a "Round Tuit" and place this cache. After stopping off at the cemetery to plan the waypoints, I prepared the cache and finders cards, then returned to place the cache.

The cache is not at the above co-ords but it is where you will find some of the information to locate GZ.

At the posted coords you are looking for the headstone of George Frederick Amphlett, 10th Light Horse Regiment 1st A.I.F. At the foot of his grave is a five letter word, similar to those which often state the family name or "Mother" or "Father" etc.

Using the code A=1, B=2, ...Z=26, add the values of the letters in that word to get a two digit number AB.

Waypoint 2 can be found at S32°07.147' E116°01.227'. Here you will find the headstone of Trooper Frederick Charles Close, 10th Light Horse Regiment 1st A.I.F.
CDEF = his Regimental Number.

Waypoint 3 can be found at S32°07.143' E116°01.237'. Here you will find the headstone of Private C.H. Gray, 43 Battalion 1st A.I.F.
GHJK = his Regimental Number.

Waypoint 4 can be found at S32°07.142' E116°01.241'. Here you will find the headstone of Private W.H. Franklin, 2/11 Infantry Battalion, 2nd A.I.F.
LMNP = the numeric part of his Regimental Number.

The cache can be found at S32° 07.(B-E) J ( J - (H+L))' E116° 01.G(G+L)( J - H)'.

I've tried to keep to the simple style of Richlink's caches, but this one is bigger than the others to make room for decent sized swaps and travelers. This cache is a drab camo'd 120mm diameter 200mm high (2 litre) round screw-top container, with log book, finders cards, pen, two pencils, a pencil sharpener, and a few swaps. Please do not over-fill the container, and please be sure to put the lid on tightly and conceal it as found, and watch out for muggles.
