Geocache Description:

A cache on the Minoan path connect Lassithi plateau with Kastamonitsa.

There is a monument at the top of the Minoan path connecting the village of Kastamonitsa with Lassithi plateau. It is there to remind us the place of death of Tsouli pasha. He was a Cretan who became Muslim and was the fear of the Christian of the area and a serious trouble to Turkish authorities. He lived more than two centuries ago as a thief. A this place “Lakos tis Hortatsas” seven Cretan was waiting for him and they murdered him. Since then everyone who was passing from there was throwing a stone and cursing him. For centuries a hill of stones was there. When the new dirt road was made the pill of stones was destroyed. But the tradition is stronger so a new one is now there. A big marble sign is also there with the story of Tsouli. The cache is close to the monument.
