Matjaž cave - a karst cave on the slopes of Šmarna gora
Mnogi ne vedo, da imamo na obrobju Ljubljane kraško jamo. Matjaževa jama je manjša kapniška jama z naravnim oknom v stropu (jamsko okrasje je sicer bolj skromno), ki leži na severnih pobočjih Šmarne gore nad vasjo Zavrh pod vrhom Gradišča (471 m), najnižjega od treh vrhov »masiva« Šmarne gore. Notranjost jame je, ob ustrezni previdnosti, lahko dostopna.
Few people know that there is a small karst cave on the outskirts of Ljubljana. Matjaž cave with indistinct cave formations and natural window lies on the northern slopes of Šmarna gora above the village Zavrh and below the summit of Gradišce (471 m), the lowest of three summits of Šmarna gora »massif«. Access into the cave is easy.
Dostop: s ceste Vikrče-Smlednik zavijte proti vasi Zavrh, parkirišče je mogoče najti ob cesti v zadnjih 300 m pred izhodiščem ali ob njem (lahko pa parkirate takoj za odcepom na urejenem plačljivem parkirišcu, posebej če se odpravljate tudi na vrh). Na izhodišču se za smetnjaki od ceste navzgor odcepi široka pot, ki ji sledite približno 50-60 m do razpotja, kjer zavijete desno na ožjo stezico. Po tej stezici, ki je ponekod slabše vidna, boste jamo dosegli v približno 10-15 minutah. Od jame lahko pot nadaljujete po slabše vidni stezici na vrh Gradišča in nato naprej do priključka na pot proti Šmarni gori in Grmadi (kjer vas čakajo drugi obiska vredni zakladi).
Access: from the main road Vikrče-Smlednik turn towards Zavrh and find a parking place by the road in the last 300 m before or at the trailhead (if you plan to go to the summit of Šmarna gora, you can also park at the parking just off the main road). At the trailhead, take the wide trail uphill that starts just past the trashbins, follow it for 50-60 m and take the path to the right. The path, in some sections less obvious, will lead you to the entrance of the cave in 10-15 minutes. Past the cave you can follow the path over the summit of Gradišce and join the main trails towards the summits of Šmarna gora and Grmada (where other nice caches await you).
Objavljene koordinate vas bodo pripeljale pred vhod v jamo. Zaklad je skrit v desni steni jame. Škatlica je pokrita le z manjšim ploščatim kamnom. Za vstop v notranjost jame ne potrebujete nobene posebne opreme, razen svetilke. Če ste nižje rasti, ne plezajte po steni ampak raje uporabite katerega od »pripomočkov«, ki jih najdete v jami. Ko škatlico pospravite, naj »pripomoček« ne ostane na izdajalskem mestu!
Published coordinates will bring you to the entrance of the cave. The cache is hidden in the right wall of the cave, covered only with a small flat stone. No special equipment is necessary to enter the cave, but don't forget to bring a torch. If you are too short to reach the cache, don't climb on the wall but use one of the »resources« that you will find in the cave. After you replace the cache, please move the »resource« to less revealing position.
Zaklad je Lock & Lock škatlica, v kateri je prostora tudi za geokovance in manjše popotne hroščke (travelbug). Zacetna vsebina: beležka, svinčnik in šilček (prosim ne odnesi), neaktiviran travelbug za prvega najditelja in nekaj malenkosti za menjavo. Za najdbo ni treba rešiti nobene uganke. Dovolj bo, da preberete namig.
The cache is a small Lock & Lock container, that can hold geocoins and small travelbugs. Initial content: logbook, pencil and pencil sharpener (please do not remove), unactivated travelbug for the First to find and some small exchange items. No puzzle solving is needed to find the cache.
