Where: The Rock of Gibraltar, Enslow Bridge near Bletchingdon, Oxon. OX5 3AY. 01869 331373.
When: From 6pm to 11pm on Saturday July 21st 2012. The kitchen stops serving food at 9pm though.
What: An 'off-site' event for cachers camping at the nearby Greenhill and Diamond Farm sites... and anyone else who'd like to come along to a pretty pub besides a canal to enjoy caching-related chit-chat and the chance to sniff out any local caches. GeoKid and GeoDog (on a lead inside please) are both welcome at this friendly venue. There's wheelchair access via a ramp around the back but no dedicated loo.
Who: All cachers will be made very welcome, but please contact the pub in advance with your food order (if any) in as much detail as you can, including when you'd like to eat. This is to help them manage us in a pub which can get very busy on a Saturday evening if the weather's nice. They're on 01869 331373 or info@therockofgibraltar.com and please mention Geocaching or the Geolympix. Thank you! New to caching or cache meets? You'll be made extra welcome.
Why: Because it's traditional that Mega Events like the Geolympix have a camping side event, but we wanted ours to be as accessible and as inclusive as possible. So, no need to camp, for this one.
How: There's limited parking though, so please make the best use of the space or use the small overflow car park just beyond the canal bridge on the same side of the road.
Please bring: A game of some description, which can be played without disturbing too many other people at the pub. Cards, Cludo, Monopoly, Chess, Fieldrunners on the iPad (a personal favourite) or a Rubik's Cube would be perfect. I believe there's even a 'caching boardgame out there, somewhere. Does anyone have that? Games are something of a theme for the Geolympix. Expect Paper Plane making at another meet :)
