Geocache Description:

Grab your snowshoes and join the Pokey Plodders for an easy hike on the Mountain Loop Highway! Beginners and first-timers are especially welcome--we'll have some experienced snowshoers there to help you with your snowshoes (which you can rent at many local ski and sports shops) before you set off on an easy, flat hike to the Ice Caves picnic shelter. We'll stop there for lunch before we return to our cars.
The Pokey Plodders have recently discovered that it's possible to plod pokily on snowshoes and want to share their discovery with their friends!

If you want to meet old and new friends, maybe learn a new sport, have some fun and fresh air, please join us.

Who:
Geocachers and their friends and families
No snowshoe experience required

Children are very welcome, but participants under 18 must be accompanied by their parent/s or legal guardian/s. NO UNACCOMPANIED MINORS, PLEASE.

What:
A winter snowshoe hike and picnic lunch
We will snowshoe from (approximately) GC18QEX to GC1XGJC, about 2.25 miles each way, along the (closed and unplowed) Mountain Loop Highway. There are restrooms and a picnic shelter at our destination.

When:
Saturday, February 18
8:30-5:00 (We will probably be back by 3:00.)

Where:
The event will be a bring-your-own lunch at the picnic shelter at the Ice Caves parking lot, but we'll meet by 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Red Apple/IGA grocery store in Granite Falls to carpool.

Meet at 8:30a.m. at the IGA/Red Apple, 115 N Granite Ave, Granite Falls, WA 98252 to carpool. See waypoint below.

Why:
When did we ever need a reason for seasonal fun?

New cachers and potential cachers are especially welcome!
There's a useful discussion of what to wear for winter hiking/snowshoeing here. (link)
