The Giant Drop is the tallest, free-falling ride in the world standing at 119metres high (39 storeys). It opened in 1998 and has carried more than five million passengers to date.
During the ride, passengers experience the exhilaration of falling 39 storeys reaching up to 135 km per hour, with their legs hanging freely.
At the top of the tower, the passengers are left to linger for a nerve rattling minute of anticipation before plummeting back to earth.
A sophisticated magnetic braking system (with a lifespan of approximately 1.2 million years) stops the gondola just metres from the ground.
