Geocache Description:

Moni Halepa is said to be one of the oldest Monasteries on Crete (Venetian Period) but the exact date of it´s foundation is unknown. In an existing notary document from 1555 the monastery is mentioned. Moni Halepa is located 46 km East to Rethymo near the villages Tsahiana and Veni. We like this arera much and like to show it other cachers. This was the reason to drop a cache here. More information you can find on the Website above.

How to find the cache area?
Take the Old Road Rethymo / Iraklion and turn at Waypoint 1, Moni Halepa is signed out. On Waypoint 2 turn right, as well here is a signpost to Moni Halepa.

The Cache:
It is nearly a drive in, but take the chance to visit “Moni Halepa” and enjoy the view around. South to the Psiloritis Mountains (at the moment snow-covered) and North to valley and to the sea. The cache is a small one (plastic container) with a logbook, pen and pen sharpener and some items to trade. Have fun here.

You can combine this cacheing tour for example with: „Peter&Pavlos“ near Veni and „Geotrail 1-4“ in the area of Moni Vosakou.
