Geocache Description:

Sande Cross Roads...once a very busy place full of traffic and long lines of cars. Now nice and quiet since E-18 was moved onto the hill.

This cache is at the cross roads of Fylkesvei 313 towards Holmestrand and Fylkesvei 319 towards Svelvik. Before the new E-18 opened in 2001, all traffic drove along this simple little road which lead to major traffic jams, especially in the summer when people were going to / coming back from their cabins in the South.

The traffic returned to this road when E-18 was closed due to a large section of the roof collapsing in the Hanekleiv Tunnel on Christmas day, 2006. The tunnel wasn't reopened until the end of August 2007.

These days, the road carries mainly local traffic or people taking the more scenic route to Holmestrand along Sandebukta.
