Geocache Description:

Castle of Csokakô The ruins of the castle of Csokakô are in the Vértes mountains on a lonely cliff. Three sides were protected by deep gulch, it was accessible only from the west. It's a several story high castle with an internal tower and irregular layout, first mentioned by the cronicles in 1299. It was probably built by the Csák genus, but the owners changed several times during the history. In 1544 the Turks occupied it, but this little castle was not significant strategically. It was last used in the 18th century and errupted only in the 19th century. There's a beutiful view from the castle to the Bakony mountains, to the hollow of Mór and to Székesfehérvár. Of course in clear weather, not in snow-thunder like now. :-)

The castle which is under reconstuction can be seen from anywhere in the town of Csókakô, so it's not needed to turn the GPS on as you approach it. In dry weather you can drive as close as 100 m. The cache is in front of the main entrace, in the hillside, in a cave size of a geocache. It's a 30 cm diameter, 10 cm high plastic box.

We wish you a successful hunt and pleasant trip to the castle.

Anikó and Miki
