Geocache Description:

The castle of Sirok is one of Hungary's most beautiful rock-castles. Originally it was a pagan castle, later owned by the Bohr-Bodon line of Aba genus, whose offsprings fighted against the king with Máté Csák. In 1320 the army of Róbert Károly took over the castle, so it became the property of the King. In 1388 László Tari bought it and founded a village below the castle. It was known as a strong castle, the Turks, didn't even try to occupy it. Today only ruins left, which are similar to the surronding rocks they were made of. These walls were finally destroyed in 1713.

From road #3 turn to Sirok at the town of Kápolna. Signs show you the way to the castle on the streets of Sirok. Leave the car at the parking place below the castle. The main entrace can be reached in a few hundreds meters on a steep path.

Start searching the cache on the left of the main entrace. It's a 30 cm diameter, 10 cm high box, located under a natural tent of branches and twiners, around 15 meters from the wall.

We wish you a successful hunt and pleasant trip to the castle.

Anikó and Miki
