Geocache Description:

This cache uses CBS's Star Trek Series as it's theme. This puzzle cache is not at the posted location. You will not only need to solve a puzzle but also become familiar with several aspects of The Vulcans.

"Live Long and Prosper"

Our homeworld, Vulcan, orbits the far left star of Orion's belt. Much of its surface consists of deserts and mountain ranges, and large areas are set aside as wilderness preserves. It is much hotter, it has a stronger surface gravity, and its atmosphere is thinner than that of Earth. We are stronger, faster, and longer-lived than humans. Many of us live over two hundred and twenty years. We can survive without water for longer periods than humans and we can also go without sleep for as long as two weeks.

Our skin has a greenish hue due to our copper-based blood, which is green in color. We have almost no blood pressure and our hearts are located on the right side of our torso, in between the ribs and pelvis. We also have an inner eyelid which protects vision from bright lights, an adaptation for our bright and hot home world.

We are vegetarians by choice but were omnivores in ages past. Vulcans do not like to touch their food with their hands, preferring to use utensils whenever possible. It is our custom for guests in the home to prepare meals for their hosts. We normally do not to drink alcohol, though on special occasions, we have been know to do so.

We Vulcans attempt to live lives of reason and logic with no interference from emotion by living lives of rigid emotional self-control, through meditation, training and mental discipline. Although we appear to be unemotional, Vulcans are exceptionally emotional. We suppress emotion precisely because of the damage they can cause if unchecked. We prize the The Kolinahr which is intended to purge all remaining emotion. Only the most devoted and trained Vulcan students attain Kolinahr. Not all Vulcan characters follow the path of pure logic; some instead choose to embrace emotions.

We are telepathic. Our "mind-meld" is a technique for sharing thoughts, experiences, memories, and knowledge with another individual. It usually requires physical contact, though mind-melds without contact have been possible. Vulcans can perform mind melds with members of all other species except the Ferengi. We are able to implant our katra, our living essence or spirit, into an object or another person via a form of mind-meld just prior to death. Katras can, on rare occasions, be returned to the body, effectively bringing us back from the dead.

We practice arranged marriages, with consummation at a later date. Approximately every seven years, Vulcan males and females who are bonded to each other experience an overpowering mating drive known as pon farr. Once triggered, Vulcans must have sexual contact with someone, preferably their mate, or else face insanity and death. A female can challenge the bonding by calling for koon-ut-kal-if-fee, "marriage or challenge". The challenger engages the bonded male in a fight to the death. The bonded male has the option of rejecting his intended bride and choosing another. It is customary for Vulcan children to undertake an initiation ordeal known as the Kahs-wan, in which they are left to fend for themselves in the desert for a specific period of time. Not all children survive this rite of passage.

In about your Earth's 4th century AD, we emerged from our violent tendencies and civil wars under a philosopher named Surak, who advocated the suppressing of emotion in favor of logic. This period was known as the Great Awakening. Much of our present-day philosophy emerged from this period.

Surak's views and lifestyle were not universally accepted by Vulcan society. One particular group of Vulcans who called themselves "Those Who March Beneath the Raptor's Wings" were so adamant in their opposition against Surak that it resulted in a nuclear war, of which Surak himself became a victim. These Vulcan separatists would eventually become known as the Romulans.

1440- T'Vran discovered the secrets of warp drive

1944 - The Vulcans fought a hundred-year war with the Romulans.

1957 - While observing the launch of Sputnik, the Vulcan vessel crashed on Earth, marooning Vulcans for a number of months in Carbon Creek, Pennsylvania; this constituted the first true contact between Humans and Vulcans, but it was never recorded as such as the Humans were unaware of the alien nature of their guests.

April 5, 2063, Vulcans and Humans made official first contact following the successful test of Earth's first warp-powered starship. We gave massive assistance to your post-WW3 Earth. For this reason, Humans view Vulcans in many ways as their best friends.

2097, the Vulcans annexed the Andorian planetoid Weytahn and renamed it Pan Mokar.

2105, the Vulcans and the Andorians agreed to a compromise over Weytahn/Pan Mokar.

2151, First Vulcan joined the crew of a Earth Starfleet vessel.

2154, the Vulcan High Command considered a proposal for Vulcans and Humans to conduct joint space exploration missions.

2154 discovery of the Kir'Shara brought about a new age as the Vulcan people rediscovered the true uncorrupted teachings of Surak.

2161, Vulcan became one of the founding members of the United Federation of Planets.

2285 - Spock dies (temporarily)

2367 Ambassador Spock travels to Romulus, seeking reunification of the Vulcan and Romulan races. Death of Ambassador Sarek.

For you to find the coordinates of our civilation, we have a rather simple task for you. You must align the isolinear chips in the correct manner. The object is to fully fill in the given grid with isolinear chips observing three simple rules. You have numbers 0 through 5 for a 6 x 6 grid.

.

Rule #1: Each row must contain different numbers.

Rule #2: Each column must contain different numbers.

Rule #3: Each stream must contain different numbers.
