CALHAU DAS ACHADAS
Existem três formas de alcançar esta cache devidamente assinalados com waypoints:
There are three ways to reach this cache properly marked with waypoints:
- Vereda da Ladeira: Terrain and difficulty=4
- Vereda do Calhau das Achadas da Cruz: Terrain and difficulty=4
- Teleférico: Terrain and difficulty=2.5
As veredas têm aproximadamente 4,2km e são descidas íngremes, pelo que deverá ter sempre cuidado para não escorregar. Faça pequenas pausas para descansar e para observar a Ribeira do Tristão, o vale, o oceano e a bonita paisagem que estes percursos nos mostram.
The paths are about 4.2 km and are steep descents, and you should always be careful not to slip. Take short breaks to rest and to observe Ribeira do Tristão, the valley, the ocean and the beautiful landscape that these paths show us.
Se tens pouco tempo poderás optar pelo impressionante teleférico. O teleférico é frequentemente utilizado pelos habitantes da zona que cultivam no calhau para ter acesso às suas propriedades e para transportar as suas colheitas. A viagem dura apenas 5m por cada viagem e está aberto todos os dias entre as 10:00 e as 18:00 (com fecho para período de almoço).
If you have limited time you can opt for the impressive cable car. The cable car is often used by farmers who grow in the rocky area to have access to their properties and to carry their crops. The trip takes only 5m for each trip and is open every day between 10:00 and 18:00 (closes during lunch period).
Qualquer que seja a tua escolha a expectativa em alcançar a promenade que percorre todo o Calhau das Achadas será grande, pois isso será sinal de que o primeiro objectivo foi alcançado.

Em terrenos onde outrora a agricultura foi praticada de forma assídua nascem, hoje, as canas vieira. Facilmente se apercebe que a mancha que elas agora ocupam é bem maior do que a alguns anos atrás, ofuscando as poucas plantações de vinha e os palheiros que ainda resistem à destruição do tempo.
In the land where once agriculture was practiced assiduously, canes are born. One can easily realizes that the spot they now occupy is much larger than a few years ago,overshadowing the few plantations of vines and barns that still resist the destruction of time.
Pelo caminho poderás também encontrar algumas máquina agrícolas abandonadas, o velho "fio" de carga, uma homenagem a São Pedro...
Along the way, you can also find some abandoned agricultural machinery, the old "wire" of cargo and a tribute to St. Peter ...
De referir que esta zona está classificada como Sítio da Rede Natura 2000, em parte graças à diversidade florística que ali existe, com destaque para a Cila-da-Madeira (aqui temos um dos maiores núcleos em estado natural), a Erva-vaqueira (ou Calendula), a Múchia-dourada e o Buxo-da-rocha.
Note that this area is classified as a Natura 2000 site, thanks in part to the floristic diversity that exists here, especially the cila-da-Madeira (here we have one of the largest cores in a natural state), the Erva-vaqueira (or Calendula), the Múchia-dourada and the Buxo-da-rocha.
