Welcome to the kickoff event for the Alabama State Parks
Geocaching Challenge. This will be held at the coordinates above at
12:00 noon CST on April 14, 2012. The event will describe the
Alabama State Parks Geocaching Challenge as well as a hotdog lunch,
door prizes and some other surprises.
There will also
be some other events this same weekend associated with this
kickoff. Be sure to look for these and join us in the fun.
Lakepoint Resort State Park has many lodging options for those
staying the weekend. The park is offering discounts for lodging for
those attending the geocaching events, be sure to ask about
it.
What is the
Alabama State Parks Geocaching Challenge? This challenge is being
done by the Alabama State Parks of the Alabama Department of
Conservation and Natural Resources and will includes all 22 state
parks. A new geocache (one of the following type: traditional,
puzzle, letter box or multi) is being hid at each of the state
parks. Most of the caches, if not all, will be of the creative type
that is regular size containers or larger. Each cache will have a
log book, trade items and all are kid friendly. Also, each one will
have information or a code that will be needed for the final puzzle
cache for the Alabama State Parks Geocaching Challenge. Once a
cacher has all the information they will be able to solve the final
Challenge Puzzle Cache. Anyone that solves the final puzzle will
receive a geocoin that has been made for this challenge. The only
way to get this coin will be to complete the challenge. This event
will cover all details and answer all questions concerning the
challenge.
