How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates.

To complete this challenge, find 10 caches whose names are palindromes of at least 5 characters. Ignore spaces, capitalization, and punctuation. For example, if another cache had the exact name as this one, "GOLDLOGPALINDROMECHALLENGE," it wouldn't qualify. But "Gold Log" (GOLDLOG) would. Note that numbers--or combinations of numbers and letters--are OK, as long as they have at least 5 characters.

Here are a bunch of NorCal caches that qualify--there are many others from which you can build your list of 10:
GCVHG3 Dammit I'm mad!
GC10AAJ Abazaba
GC169J9 Ed, I Hide
GC2365M 00100
GC2JWFP Madam in Eden, I'm Adam
GC2MAE9 1-11-11
GC2M9ZR 11111
GC2N5H1 Dr. Awkward
GC2QH4F Do geese see God?
GC3700P 111111
GC370DF 11-1-11
GC3734F 11-02-2011
GC37H7B 11/11/11
GC37J64 11-11-11
GC3AZH5 Flat! Is it Alf?
GC3B02T Liar Trail
GC3CCZQ 21212
GC3DFMF step on no pets
GC4A7KZ Anne "KC" McKenna
GC8JRTM 021120
I'll add more to this list...till I get tired of doing so. Feel free to send me those you find.

Now a few words from the Promotion of Clarity Department:
You must find 10 different qualifying caches to complete this challenge.
Each cache name must be a palindrome of at least 5 characters (honorable mention, but no dice, for GC1XGHA, GC22WXV, GC24QE8, and GC2KC8V). Ignoring spacing, capitalization, and punctuation, there must be five or more letters and numbers in the cache name and they must read the same backwards and forwards.
Past finds may be used toward this challenge.
At least three qualifying caches must have been published before January 23, 2012.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot: there's a puzzle to solve as well. You may need a drafting compass to solve it! Before I chose the final location, I thought the illustration on this page might turn out to look like a star. Rats! Looks more like a bat. Oh well--can't win 'em all. 08/04/2018 UPDATE: I have moved the final: to the solved coordinates, add 0.326 to North coordinate and 0.935 to West coordinate. (I will keep the Difficulty and Terrain ratings the same, so as not to create any changes for previous finders.)

If more than one person completes the challenge and finds the final on or before 1/23/2012, FTF will be shared.

Note: this is a 5-star difficulty, but [March 15, 2012] I'm breaking with my past practice: a checker is provided. I'm curious to see what the "certitude crowd" does with the puzzle.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

Congratulations to JoyfulNomad for the FTF!
