The case is placed at a small chapel right by the E4 trail section that runs from Elafonisi to Krios (Paleochora).
This is a Micro case (35mm film canister white). Original Contents: geocache note, logbook and a small pencil. No tools are required to retreive it.
The case is placed at a small Church right by the E4 trail section that runs from Elafonisi to Krios (Paleochora). The hike is relative easy on a well marked path. Small changes in elevation, terrain is mostly gravel and rock, easy ride (only 2 or 3 less than 10 feet climbs required), but no overcast at all thus no shadow. Suggested seasons Spring or Autumn. Bring sufficient water although you can find water at the Church. Estimated duration for the whole hike around 4h.
It is a great route, with stuning scenery and a marvelous look over the Lybian Sea. The path starts at the beach oposite Elafonisi (=deer island), a tourist heavy area in the summer. When the seas are calm it is possible to walk to the island through the shallow water. You pass through Kedrodasos =(cedar forest), a rare ecosystem of the island, yet now a cramped free camping site. The path continues through beaches and up hills till the resting stop at the church, almost 2/3 of the way. After that you encounter a small natural port where the ancient Roman port Viena used to be. Notice the ruins laid at the shore.
The route can be transversed the other way around.
For the lazy cacher: the church is also accessible via a dirt road from Kountoura (next to Paleochora). Not suggested since it spoils all the fun.
