Geocache Description:

After solving the puzzle there is parking nearby and a short walk uphill to the cache site. The area is generally not too muddy unless there has been a period of heavy rain, which is not unknown in an English Summer! Unfortunately, this is not suitable for wheelchair users. A location hint is available when submitting the correct solution through the Geochecker link below.

This is one of a series of puzzle caches created to celebrate the 2012 Olympic Games Sailing events to be held in Weymouth Bay.

IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS SERIES WILL BE ARCHIVED ON THE 30th SEPTEMBER 2013

We would like to thank the many cachers who have taken the time to attempt these caches,

The series consists of five rings of puzzle caches situated in Weymouth Bay and can be seen on the Geocaching.com map view.  Each ring is designated a separate colour (Black, Red, Yellow, Blue and Green) and has an associated bonus solved by collecting information from the caches within that ring.  Solving all five bonus puzzles will yield the coordinates of a final cache location (GC3BXN0 Sailing Rings - Race To The Podium), where Gold, Silver and Bronze medals await the first three successful geocachers.  Most of the puzzles are designed to be solved at home and results can be checked using the associated geocheck.com link.
There are over 60 puzzles to solve so it is not a quick task to get to the end, but remember that all Olympians only reach their peak with hard work!

The cache is not at the above location but is within five miles so please don't get your feet wet!

Del Boy's Uncle Albert decided to visit the Olympic Sailing Venue in Weymouth Bay the other day.  Now, Uncle Albert is well known for his nautical yarns and stories about the war so he was soon into his stride with anyone who cared to listen or couldn't get away.  The National Sailing Academy decided that enough was enough and quickly sent him off in a rowboat to get some peace and quiet.   However, unbeknown to the long-suffering public Uncle Albert had kept some dog-eared notes in a 'book of yarns', which he believes will lead to a great treasure. After losing his oars and drifting off into the distance he decided in true Nelson fashion to put together a message so that others could contribute to his book, and perhaps help him retrieve the treasure before he ended up in France!

The creators of the series wish to thank our local reviewers and Groundspeak, who have been involved during its creation and given their permission for cache hides to be up to five miles distant from published coordinates.
