Turhill Park, Lightwater
A nice easy cache in wooded heathland. Ideal for those who fancy a short stroll, a longer stroll around the woods or those who are looking for a convenient, comfy stop off for a travel bug.
Turfhill Park comprises approx. 60 acres of natural heathland and pine woods and is designated as a S.S.S.I. in recognition of the valuable and rare habitat created by the heathland. The park is fairly level with many clear paths and is very popular with dog walkers and for nature studies. There is a very small car park at entrance to Turfhill Park, opposite the entrance to Blackstroud Lane West GU18 5SP.
The Turfhill Travel Bug Motel is the ideal stop off for travel bugs as there are several main roads close by as well as the M3 and Heathrow Airport being within striking distance.
The cache is a medium sized plastic box with the usual log book and kids’ swaps, and the added advantage of a travel bug sleeping bag for your weary bug to rest their head! (PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE TRAVEL BUG SLEEPING BAG) The cache is placed with due respect to the heathland but this does mean that some stealth will be required to avoid muggles.
Placed with the kind permission of Surrey Heath Rangers.
