WSGA Cache of the Month - October 2012! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO VOTED! some of my favorite places within a one block radius that started in seattle and are now also in nyc. :) this is a multicache that will take you to four different locations. you will need to obtain information at each location to figure out where the next location is. there is a creative cache container with a log and room for small items at the final location.

when masterchef and kelientje visited seattle, they commented on how seattle seemed to be lacking in larger urban containers. when i mentioned how difficult it was to hide larger containers in the city, the ensuing discussion provided new insight from our european friends. my girlfriend then spotted the perfect hiding spot, which enabled me to present my first multi! you should be able to do this on foot within a lunch hour! terrain is 1.5 stars due to seattle's urban hill by the market.

waypoint 1: start
you are standing at the very first location of this worldwide chain which opened here in 1971 and has gone on to forever associate seattle with coffee. this is actually the second location of the original, which was about 150 meters north at 2000 Western Avenue from 1971 to 1976. they expanded to nyc in 1994. if you wander inside you will find a brass marker with some interesting information. to progress to waypoint2, you will need to stand just outside the door and count the number of visible green painted wooden boards framed in the ceiling above the entry way, this even number will be A. standing on the curb and facing the entry, count how many bolts are under the awning immediately and directly above the store windows and entry, this odd number will be B.

waypoint2: N 47° 36.(580+A) W 122° 20.(507+B)
as the plaque states, this comical artwork was funded by gifts to care for the market. it's a great place to have a seat and admire the hustle and bustle during market hours. you will notice there are two rows of holes on each seat. to progress to waypoint3, you will need to count both rows of holes on each seat. red seat holes (even) = C and green seat holes (odd) = D.

waypoint3: N 47° 36.(547+C) W 122° 20.(494+D)
this is a more recent seattle business which opened in 2003 and quickly took the niche market by storm, winning awards with quality handmade products using local ingredients. if you wander inside you can sample some of the best crackers you might taste. in 2011 they expanded to new york city, bringing handmade goodness to both sides of the country. standing at the wp3 coordinates you will be able to observe the hand crafted process through the window. note the name of the company that made the machine they are using. ignoring the INC. portion, the number of letters in the first word will be E and the second word will be F, both are even numbers. now we are ready for the final!

waypoint4 -final: N 47° 36.(589+A+B+C) W 122°20.(542+D+E+F)
PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR MUGGLES. this is a very high traffic area and there are lots of eyes in the windows but you should be able to clearly identify the cache without touching anything. you will know when you find it. for a good laugh, look up and see what's on the wall. when you obtain the cache container, you might want to have a seat to sign the log away from muggles.

first and second to find prize is a gift card to one of the places in this cache. :) if you are FTF please only take one and leave the other for the STF. thanks and happy hunting!
