The nano cache is located near the entrance of the Highveld Bird Sanctuary. I originally planned to place the cache inside the sanctuary, but the area seems severely neglected and I opted for the 'safer' hiding spot. You will be able to drive right up to the cache. It is not advisable to do this cache at night. Please bring your own pen to sign the log.
The bird sanctuary lies behind the Highveld Garden, where supposedly up to 70 different species of highveld birds can be viewed. In the Vaalpark wetland, beautiful & quite rare Swallow-tailed Bee-eaters have been spotted.
In 2004 the park was upgraded, but it seems maintenance and up keeping of the area is not a priority and is rarely done.
