Encontro das Águas (Meeting of the Waters) is the happy name for the exact place where the Rio Negro and Solimões join... and born the so-called Amazon.
A cache encontra-se num miradouro sobre os rios, e do seu ponto zero, podemos observar nitidamente a diferença de cor das águas do Rio Negro (castanho escuro derivado das muitas substâncias vegetais em decomposição arrastadas pelo rio) e do Solimões (de cor barrenta, da terra e lamas que transporta).
A partir deste ponto e durante vários quilómetros em direção ao Atlântico, os rios permanecem juntos e separados simultaneamente, numa luta de caudais, mantendo estas colorações tão distintas... até que finalmente se fundem.
Podendo ser feitas visitas de barco ao local onde este fenómeno geológico se verifica, penso que apenas deste miradouro se consegue desfrutar dele em toda a sua plenitude e majestade... uma paisagem que jamais esquecerei.
Como bónus, na praia por baixo do miradouro e em redor, há uma grande colónia de urubus e imensas mangueiras... levem bolsas, pois a sobremesa é "oferta da casa".

The cache is in a gazebo on the river, and on the GZ, we can see clearly the difference in color of the waters of Rio Negro (dark brown derived from decaying vegetation carried by the river) and the Solimões (muddy color).
From this point and several miles into the Atlantic, the rivers remain together and apart simultaneously flow in a fight, keeping these as different colors... until they finally merge.
Visits may be made by boat to where this geological phenomenon is located but I think that from this viewpoint one can enjoy it in all its fullness and majesty... a landscape that I will never forget.
As a bonus, the beach beneath and around the gazebo, there is a large colony of vultures and huge mango trees... take bags, because the dessert is "on the house."
