He has risen…Pokey that
is! This cache was originally placed as "At
a Snail's Pace" in Black Diamond Park in July 2001. After a
few months in its hiding spot, it was archived when it turned
up missing. Recently, however, the local caching team of Sandi
and Cachin' Katie found the missing cache in a bush that was
some distance from its original hiding spot. It appeared as
though the cache had been moved to its new location by an
animal. Since the cache was still in good shape, it was
refurbished and placed in another east bay park.
From the main parking area the cache is just over 2 miles.
Initially the trail is somewhat flat, but then changes to a
moderately steep climb in some areas. Although the cache is about
500' off trail, if you follow a sketchy animal path you should be
able to avoid stickers during the summer. The cache has been well
hidden so you'll have to look closely to find it. You know
how those snails can hide! Also, since the majority of the trail is
in the open, bring plenty of water on those hot summer days.
Have fun, be safe and tread
lightly!
The whimsical container is about 12" by 9" by 4" deep, however
the interior dimensions are smaller, about 6" diameter by 3" deep.
It has been placed in a camouflaged plastic bag.
