Geocache Description:

Welcome to BroyleBoxers’ Circuit #1 – BBC1 in short.

The Walkabout has eleven traditional caches, one Multi cache and two Bonus caches. The circuit is designed to take you on a walk of just under 5 miles.

The walk passes through the eastern edge of Charlton Forest which is a large leasehold woodland of 997 hectares. Charlton Forest is one of the largest Beech forests in Europe and was planted between 1940 and 1960. Under the terms of the lease, public access in the forest is limited to Public Rights of Way, so there is no direct route from #8 to #10 on the Walkabout.

The Walkabout is designed to be completed in numerical order, with the Multi cache providing some interest between #8 and #10.

It might help you to know that the Bonus caches are not hidden within the main loop of the walk.

The walk will take you from an elevation of about 120 metres at the recommended car park to a high point of just over 230 metres when you first reach the South Downs Way. The terrain rating is for the walk as a whole, but obviously the going will be easier on the downhill sections.

As the title suggests, the walk is along footpaths and bridleways with long sections passing through woodland. This is reflected in the majority of the hides used in the series.

The paths can get muddy and slippery after rain, so good walking boots or wellies are recommended.

The caches consist of seven camouflaged micros and seven small or regular sized clip-lock boxes for your swaps. The clip-lock boxes had some small swaps in them when placed. The small clip-lock boxes can take GCs or small TBs. The Bonus cache is a regular clip-lock box which has plenty of room for trackables. When placed it contained a selection of small swaps and an FTF pin. You'll need to bring a pen as the majority of the cache containers are too small to hold one.

You will need to collect data from all of the micros and two of the other caches to calculate the co-ordinates for the Bonus cache.

The Bonus cache is not at the published co-ordinates, so do not attempt to go there. Instead, the cache is hidden at:

N50 5A.BCD W000 EF.GHJ

The Bonus cache also contains the co-ordinates for a second Bonus cache before the end of the Walkabout.

We hope you enjoy the walk!
