Geocache Description:


Visit the only portion of the currently Virginia Central Railway open to the public!
And find one of the geocaches in the Railroad Knutz series while you are there!!

Back in 1992 Spotsylvania County opened a two mile section of the old Virginia Central Railway as a public greenway. The county has plans to open other portions of the right-of-way and hopes that the City of Fredericksburg to the east and Orange County to the west will do the same, so that a 38 mile long greenway can be established.

In the meantime, this section is very nice to enjoy, either on foot or by bike, and the cache is located along this trail.

The main trail rule to be aware of is that it is open from dawn to dusk. For a complete list of rules please see a version of the picture above which can be zoomed in on the posted sign. To avoid unpleasant portions of the adjacent landfill, stay on the asphalt path until you are within fifty yards of the cache coordinates.
