The Millennial Year Challenge Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Saturnmansc1: The coords tend to bounce around too much down here. Also, folks tend to make this cache wander a lot. Too much hassle for too little time to care about this cache anymore. It's going to be a long time before I can get back in the area to collect this cache. If someone wants an after archive find, go and collect the container for me and then log it. Thanks.

Thanks to all those who have taken the time to find this cache. Happy Caching.

Geocache Description:

Hooray! This cache *IS* at the posted coordinates. However, there is a catch! Cache has a pen and some swag, but like any good cacher, always bring the weapon of choice of writers and authors. Please follow the "Dawn To Dusk" rules when searching for this cache. Borderline small/regular sized cache. Please cover and hide as found. Best way to access the trail to this cache is N 45° 28.302 W 122° 39.675.

This cache complies with the geocaching policies for Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) properties. Please respect park hours when caching.

Whether you enjoy the adventure of geocaching or the numbers involved, everyone enjoys making and/or reaching a goal or a milestone. In June, I took on a goal to find IVHS72's cache, A Perfect 300 Game!!! (GC28BEB). In October, I was looking at my statistics and realized I was only at 400 finds away from making my 1,000th find. I set out with a new goal along with my daily streak. I was bound and determined to find my 1,000th find for the entire year of 2011. On December 17th I achieved this goal.

You can go and find the cache anytime to sign it, however, you must be able to do one of three things:

You must have found 1,000 finds in a single year, according to your statistics. Any type of cache find will qualify you.

Or for those that want to start and reach a goal (which can qualify you for other challenge caches):

Post a note on the day you begin (or wish to begin) the challenge and then find 1,000 finds until the same date the following year *with* at least one cache find on each day. Example: Post a note stating you will start the challenge on January 1st, 2012. You will need to not only get 1,000 finds along with a daily find streak until the the same date in 2013.

For the new and addicted geocachers. If you have found 1,000 or more cache finds within your first first year of geocaching, you qualify. Example: GeoNut123 started caching in June and by the following February GeoNut123 has already made 1,200 finds. That will qualify GeoNut123 for this cache.

Please note in your log the number of finds in the year or make a public bookmark (if you posted a note starting the challenge) listing the number of caches that allows me to verify if you qualify. I really do not want to have to delete someone's because they do not meet the qualifications. That is not a fun thing to have to do.

This of course means that there will be three FTF winners. The prizes will be unactivated Lackey geocoins. I will work with getting the coins to the FTF'ers via e-mail.

One FTF will go to the first cacher(s) with at least 1,000 cache finds that can be verified in their statistics.

The other FTF winner will be the one person who starts the challenge and can get both 1,000 finds in a year along with the full year streak. This is the longer and probably more difficult part, but can be very rewarding.

The final FTF winner will be a cacher that has not reached their one year caching anniversary, yet has 1,000 or more cache finds.

The current ratings are for the work and time needed to accomplish the qualifications for this challenge cache. The actual rating for this cache more like a 1.5/2.5-3.

Best parking coordinates can be in the Oaks Amusement Park area or around the Sellwood Park area.
