Geocache Description:

The first in a series of ten caches on a 3 mile circular walk around part of the RSPB’s Frampton Marsh Nature Reserve. The series should take approximately two hours giving plenty of time for searching and signing logs! Car parking is available at the Reserve Car Park – co-ordinates given below. Toilets and refreshments are available from the nearby visitor centre (opening hours 10am to 4pm every day except Christmas Day).

Most of the route follows grassy seabanks, however the starting section is along a single track tarmac road, please be aware of the possibility of vehicles driving along here. Please also watch out for vehicles at the end of the hedgerow whilst you re-join the tarmac road (after cache number 10). Parts of the walk are accessible to all; however there are two flights of steps and several gates to negotiate. All the caches are accessible from the public footpath – UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO YOU NEED TO CLIMB OVER ANY LOCKED GATES OR FENCES. Dogs are allowed on this trail; however there is a restriction on other parts of the Nature Reserve (this is well signed). There are inquisitive cows grazing the seabanks from April to October – so please keep dogs under control, and please use the dog toilet facilities provided (bags and bins). As you walk the route you will have the opportunity to enjoy one of Lincolnshire’s finest wild places. Sights to enjoy include thousands of wading birds and wildfowl on the reedbed and fresh water scrapes during the winter months and watch out for birds of prey such as peregrines, hen harriers and short eared owls flying over the saltmarsh. In the summer listen out for singing skylarks and displaying lapwings. Avocets also nest here. For more information about the wildlife please call in at the visitor centre where you can also enjoy a cup of tea and a chat with the friendly staff. As the series name indicates the caches have been designed along a wildlife theme and are all unique in shape and size. Some of the hides are purposefully more difficult than others. We have added a regular Tupperware cache in the series which is suitable for swaps, TB’s and Geocoins. We hope you find the hides enjoyable, and that the containers raise a smile! Good Luck! There is no pen/pencil in this cache, tweezers may be helpful. Please re-hide well. CONGRATULATIONS TO DAZ&MEL FOR THE FTF - IN THE DARK, WIND AND RAIN!!!!!
