Back to school! The Knaphill History Lessons are a series of fairly easy caches intended to test your local knowledge ... and maybe more. There's no real puzzle solving involved - all of the required information can be found easily online. See the Bookmark List for other caches in the series.
The Barley Mow Tavern stood at the top of Barley Mow Lane at its junction with Chobham Road in Knaphill. The earliest references (I could find) to the tavern stretch back over 250 years to the middle of the 18th century. Alas, the pub closed c. 1929 following the murder of a gentleman. The building is now a residential dwelling and is reputedly still haunted by his ghost!
To find the cache you will need to answer the following questions - here.
The cache is hidden in Barley Mow Woods. It was placed with the kind permission of the Woodland Trust.
Congratulations on the FTF to COPSKI and spaniel2001.
