Geocache Description:

Placed outside Soho Square near ground level. A camouflaged magnetic brass nano. Although placed in a very busy area you might have some luck with this, but avoid if possible between 12.00 and 14.00 when the lunchtime crowd descends. There is sometimes a large plastic box containing rat poison on the ground nearby, this is not what you are looking for!

This cache celebrates all the underground activity both past and present that goes on below this area of London. In the many years of working nearby in the video industry I have been aware of the numerous underground connections to the buildings here. Engineers connecting cable between cellars have reported underground rivers and sets of bricked in lion cages below otherwise modern reception areas. My first employment was in a building with three exits in three different streets all connected by a warren of edit suites, studios and workshops. There are three layers if you could look down through ground beneath the cache site. The first is the deserted WW2 bomb shelters constructed below Soho square itself, check out the crumbling cement of the entrance stairway hidden in the bushes across the square from the cache. The second is the Central Line platforms of Tottenham Court Road Tube and below them still are the twin bores of the new crossrail station, the cause of many buildings being demolished in north Soho at the time of hiding. Hidden on the feast of St. Nicholas Chrysoberges
