This is a night only cache. You will need a decent flashlight (nothing extreme), the starting coordinates and darkness (which is early this time of year). The cache is not at the posted coordinates, so follow the firetacks.
This is my second night only cache and it is slightly longer and more difficult that the first (as per suggestions from cachers). I tried to pick an area that would be relatively safe and not too difficult, terrain wise, but please watch your footing in the dark. This trail has some lightposts, so you will not be in complete darkness.
The posted coordinates will take you to the first fire tack, street parking is available nearby. Follow the paved trail into the dark woods. For best results, hold your flashlight at eye level and scan around, as you go up the slope. You should spot the first firetack near the top of the rise. Most of the firetacks are placed 7 to 8 feet up. The tacks are reflective and glow orange the main ones are small triangles. From each tack, you should be able to spot the next reflector. The first part of the route follows the main trail, so you can get used to spotting the tacks. When you come to a bright white tack that is square, the fun begins and you will leave the main trail. Please watch for roots or debris on the ground. Keep scanning for firetacks along the route and it will lead you to the final.
When you see a tree with 2 white eyes staring back at you, you are at the final. It is a smallish tupperware container, with regular swag in it. The FTF prize is an inukshuk keychain that my Mom wants to keep.
