Geocache Description:

Have adopted this cache as Tony & Bonnie are not in the area to maintain it. It is half way along the West side of young conifer plantation, which is to the West side of the Trig Point. 27th FEB 05 - HAVE BEEN AND REPLACED THIS CACHE WITH A NEW ONE AS THE ORIGINAL HAD DISAPPEARED. NEW CO-ORDINATES HAVE BEEN TAKEN AND ARE NOW THOSE LISTED.

The whole area drains very well, being so sandy. You can wear trainers and not get your feet wet! There is plenty of parking at The Lookout [Grid. Ref. SU E87718 N66058], providing you are early enough! The Lookout is perfect for all the family. You will need a permit to cycle in forest [£2 per day or you can obtain 6 month or yearly permits]. Cycling only permitted in marked areas, it is a large forest. The forest is very pleasant and easy to walk through, therefore special footwear is not essential unless there has been a lot of rain and then there can be some large puddles and mud to deal with. The Lookout Reception, sells the cycle permits, 1:25,000 maps [which are very helpful in this relatively 'technical' area], and offers a lot of local information. There is a Wayfarers [Orienteering] course. nature trails and an adventure playground. It has a visitors shop and a restaurant.
