S`Rittner Bahndl - Oberbozen
Seit dem Sommer 1907 hat die Rittnerbahn ihren Betrieb aufgenommen. Ursprünglich bestand Ihre Trasse aus 3 Streckenabschnitten:
• Als Straßenbahn vom Walther Platz in Bozen bis zum Rittnerbahnhof,
• als Zahnradbahn wurde sie von einem Triebwagen 4 km den Berg hoch geschoben
• und von Oberbozen aus fuhr der Triebwagen wieder selbständig bis nach Klobenstein.

Trotz zweier Weltkriege und den damit verbundenen Wirtschaftskrisen führte die Zahnradbahn mit fast 1.000 m Höhenunterschied ohne Unterbrechung vom Zentrum der Stadt Bozen direkt auf den Ritten. Als sich 1964 ein schwerer Unfall mit der bereits völlig veralteten Zahnradbahn ereignete, wurde der bereits begonnene Bau der Seilschwebebahn von Bozen nach Oberbozen, weiter vorangetrieben. Im Jahr 1966 wurde dann eine Seilschwebebahn erbaut, die im März 2009 durch eine moderne Umlaufbahn ersetzt wurde.
Ein Teil der historischer Strecke wird aber immer noch – teilweise mit Originalfahrzeugen aus der Gründerzeit – befahren: ,,´s Bahndl“ wie es von den Einheimischen liebevoll genannt wird, ist eine elektrische Schmalspurbahn und befährt die Orte Maria Himmelfahrt, Oberbozen, Wolfsgruben, Lichtenstern und Klobenstein im Halbstundentakt. In 1907 a narrow gauge railway was completed from the centre of Bozen to Klobenstein, dropping the cog engine required for the steep 1000-meter ascent of the mountain in Maria Himmelfahrt and continuing as a tramway, which still is in use today, to Oberbozen and Klobenstein.
The tram started on the Waltherplatz in Bozen, but after crossing the town the tram hat to be connected to a cog engine to overcome the steep ascent (to 1200 metres) to "Bozen's" aristocrateci housemountain", the Ritten. As soon as the train reached Maria Himmelfahrt, the first village on the Ritten plateau, the cog engine was uncoupled, and the mountain train continued as a tram again from Maria Himmelfahrt to Oberbozen (the second stop), to Wolfsgruben, and via Lichtenstern to Klobenstein.
After the cable car from Bozen to Oberbozen was completed in 1966, the tram an cog sections from Bozen to Maria Himmelfahrt were closed. But the train is still running on the plateau as a tram, from Maria Himmelfahrt to Oberbozen intermittently, and from Oberbozen to Klobenstein.

Everybody is very happy that the old tram from the time of Austrian Emperor Franz Josef is till an important, year-round public conveyance and not a museum piece.

Trenino del Renon
Nel 1907 venne inaugurato il trenino del Renon. Un evento storico: finalmente, si poteva raggiungere il Renon dal capoluogo Bolzano in soli 90 minuti, con un dislivello di quasi 1.000 metri. A quei tempi si trattava di un vero e proprio gioiello della tecnologia, grazie al quale il trasporto di persone e materiale divenne finalmente affidabile e costante. Il trenino a cremagliera è sopravvissuto a guerre, cambiamenti politici e crisi economiche. Ancora oggi, il trenino a scartamento ridotto collega alcuni paesi del Renon quali sono Soprabolzano, Costalovara, Stella e Collalbo.

Il viaggio con la Ferrovia del Renon fra Soprabolzano e Collalbo attraverso i vasti prati, i campi curati con la visuale sui masi che offrono bellissimi scorci sulle bizzarre cime montuose delle Dolomiti, che da qui sembrano vicinissime, è un’esperienza unica.
