Geocache Description:

Bili so odvedeni na Poljane, kjer so si skopali grob in kjer so jih gole ustrelili, o cemer so še leta pricale nekatere neuporabne cunje.

ENG: It was May 1945. In the village, residents were celebrating freedom and sticking little paper flags through the windows. Soon came the news that German soldiers are coming and the flags disappeared. They were walking along the railway track, withdrawing from Bohinj. Partisans stopped them at the exit of the tunnel in Vintgar (GC2W665). They were both firing for two days. In the struggle, one partisan fell, apparently of his own bomb, which he tied to his rifle and shot it towards the Germans. For negotiator has served local, who spoke German. After two days, Germans surrendered on condition, that they can pass through the Karavanke tunnel. Their fate was horrible. They were taken to Poljane, where they dug their own grave and than shot naked. Some their useless clothes were still there after years. The rumors say there were about 29 to 42 Germans, and one refugee who escaped. He was secretly bringing candles and flowers at the time of Yugoslavia. Today this place is marked with Christ's crosses and also the grave is still well visible. If you are wondering whether they are still burried there, the answer is yes.
