[EN] I would recommend to visit this cache outside the main season as it might be difficult to find a parking place and with high temperatures, it might be very hot around the cliffs.
This cache is not a park & grab cache, but one that will take you a bit of effort to get to. Micro caches near roads are nice for the statistics, but I enjoy caches more that require a bit of leg work and bring you to a nice and quiet spot.
That's why I decided to hide my first cache in Italy at the cliffs of Otranto. I went hiking here before and decided that this would be a place that more people should visit. Hopefully this cache will bring others here as well.
As not everyone may want to make a 10 km hike to find this cache, I've given you 3 options to get to the cache.
- Follow the 10 km trail along the cliffs (recommended)
- Park near the light house and walk a short part of the hike
- Park near the cache site and walk (scramble) down
[IT] Consiglio la ricerca del cache fuori stagione perché altrimenti potrebbe essere difficile trovare parcheggio e durante l'estate le temperature intorno alle scogliere possono salire molto.
Questo cache non è un park & grab, ma richiede un poco di sforzo da parte vostra. I cache micro vicino alla strada sono per le statistiche, ma a me piacciono i cache che necessitano camminare e che ti portano in un posto bello e tranquillo.
Ecco perché ho deciso di nascondere il mio primo cache italiano sulla scogliera di Otranto. Ci sono stato qui nel passato è ho deciso che questo è un posto che dovrebbe essere visitato da più gente. Spero che questo cache porterà altre persone qui.
Siccome non tutti vogliono camminare 10 km per trovare il tesoro, vi lascio 3 opzioni per arrivare al cache. Ogni opzione ha un modo diverso di avvicinamento:
- Seguite la traccia di 10 km lungo la scogliera (consigliato)
- Parcheggiate vicino al faro e camminate solo una parte della traccia
- Parcheggiate vicino al cache e proseguite in discesa

Dowload this trail from Wikiloc and enjoy the 3 hour hike. Obviously, this will take much more time than the other options, but the hike is very enjoyable and varied.
[IT] Opzione 1: Seguite la traccia di 10 km lungo la scogliera (consigliato)
Scaricate this traccia da Wikiloc e godetevi un'escursione di 3 ore. Ovviamente, per questa opzione ci vorrò molto più tempo rispetto alle altre opzioni, però l'escursione è molto piacevole e non è monotona.
[EN] Option 2: Park near the light house and walk a short part of the hike
Park near the way point "Parking near Lighthouse / Parcheggio vicino a faro (Parking Area)". Follow the unpaved road down to the light house and from there, follow the hiking trail along the coast line towards the cache. You can download the track from option 1 if you find it hard to find the track. You will need sturdy shoes to find your way over some rocks and through some bushes. Round trip will probably take about 1 hour.
[IT] Opzione 2: Parcheggiate vicino al faro e camminate solo una parte della traccia
Parcheggiate vicino al waypoint "Parking near Lighthouse / Parcheggio vicino a faro". Seguite la strada sterrata fino al faro e da lì seguite il sentiero lungo la costa verso il cache. Potete scaricare la traccia dalla opzione 1 se non riuscite a trovare il sentiero. Per camminare tra le rocce e i cespugli avrete bisogno di scarpe solide. Tra andata e ritorno ci vorrà probabilmente un'ora.
[EN] Option 3: Park near the cache site and walk down
Park near the way point "Parking for Quickest Access". Start your walk at way point "Slope to Cache / Discesa verso il cache". You'll still need sturdy shoes and willing to use your hands to get to the cache location. It will take about 15 minutes to get to the cache via this route.
[IT] Opzione 3: Parcheggiate vicino al cache e proseguite in discesa
Parcheggiate vicino al waypoint "Parking for Quickest Access". Cominciate la vostra camminata al waypoint "Slope to Cache / Discesa verso il cache". Anche qui avete bisogno di scarpe solide e probabilmente dovete usare anche le mani per arrivare al cache. In circa 15 minuti dovreste essere al punto dove si trova il cache.
[EN]Whichever route you take, you may want to have a look at the spoiler picture in advance to make sure you can find when you get to the location. But the cache is quite large so it shouldn't be too difficult to find.
[IT] Qualsiasi opzione vogliate scegliere, conviene dare un'occhiata allo spoiler per assicurarvi che travate il cache. Comunque, la scatola non è piccola e non dovrete avere difficoltà nel trovarla.

[EN] After I noticed a number of fake log entries in some of my other caches, I decided to enforce a regular geocaching rule: Any log entry on the web without matching entry in the paper logbook will be deleted unless a good reason was provided.
