A "lava flows" is material in fusion, associated with effusive
phases, which moves along the strands.
At the GZ site you can see the overlapping lava flows with clinker
(fragmented material, thorny and scummy).
This material that is softer than the surrounding formations is
more easily eroded by the action of the sea (differential erosion),
which can result sometimes in coastal caves. |

This is the unique characteristic of the gz site, you can view a
"Holed Cave" result of this geological phenomenon.
About the EarthCache:
You will have to perform three tasks:
a) estimate the maximum
height of the holed cave.
b) In the GZ,
looking south, from the right side, what can you see in the
sea?
c) Look at the
rocks, what do you observe concerning shape, texture and
colour?
Being OPTIONAL, and since we appreciate images, publish
along with your log an image of the place (include yourself if you
want)

Uma "Escoada Lávica" é material em fusão, associado a fases
efusivas, que se movimenta ao longo das vertentes.
No local do GZ poderá observar a
sobreposição de escoadas lávicas com clinker (material fragmentado,
espinhoso e escoriáceo).
Este material por ser mais brando
que as formações envolventes é mais facilmente erodido por acção do
mar (erosão diferencial), podendo originar, por vezes, grutas
litorais.
É este o carácter único do local,
poder visualizar uma "Gruta Furada" fruto deste fenómeno
geológico.
Sobre a Earthcache:
Terá de completar duas tarefas:
a) Qual a altura máxima da
gruta furada?
b) No GZ olhando para Sul,
do lado direito da gruta furada o que observa no mar?
c) Observe
as rochas, o que verifica quando à sua forma, textura e
cor?
Também e apesar de ser opcional, por favor, tire uma foto no GZ com
o seu GPS e mostre-a juntamente com o seu log.
