Geocache Description:

A cache on top of Mt Soros, at an altitude of 1186 m.

Mt Soros is a quite rocky mountain that overlooks Yous kambos
plateau and Mt Kedros in the south and the area of Patsos and
Potami dam and lake in the north. The view from the top is
fantastic. However, the top is often covered with fog, which at
times can make hiking dangerous.

To get there, you have to drive to the village of Spili and then
take the road to the village of Gerakari. At waypoint 1, altitude
840 m, a dirt road starts. You can park here and continue on the
dirt road for 2 km on foot. If you have a 4WD you can drive up to
waypoint 2, altitude 940 m, and park there. There is a water
reservoir here and the beginning of the trail to the top. The trail
is well marked with red signs and it’s another 2 km long.

The cache is hidden at the top of the mountain. A hint saying
“under rocks” would be of no use, as there is nothing
but rocks up there. The name of the mountain itself means a pile of
rocks. It is said that the rocks were carried there in order to
build a church but it never worked. There is though a kind of an
open air church built there dedicated to Christ.

We placed the cache on a hike we organized from Yous Kambos up
to Mt Soros and then down to the village of Patsos, all in all 12
km long. The cache is a plastic container with a log book and a pen
and few goods to trade.
