The First Hamster Night Cache!!! Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Heidi Seekers: Sorry for delay in checking this one. Went over to sort out and, as others have said, reflectors are a problem. Have decided to archive to make way for something else.
Thanks to all who have visited and to Spike09-123 for setting the cache originally.

Geocache Description:

This cache is to be attempted only at night - the co-ordinates listed are for the Forestry Commission car Park at Hawkbatch. Please do not attempt this during the day as it is a popular dog walking area and this will likely draw unnecessary attention to the cache during daylight hours.

PLEASE BE WARNED.......WHEN WE PLANNED THIS IT WAS MEANT TO BE CHALLENGING, IT IS NOT MERELY A WANDER IN THE WOODS. SOME OF THE TWISTS AND TURNS ARE DELIBERATELY AMBIGUOUS....YOU MAY FEEL A LITTLE LOST AT TIMES!!!! IF THIS DOESN'T APPEAL.....DO NOT ATTEMPT IT!!!!

YOU WILL NEED A DECENT TORCH, and it may be helpful to bring your GPS to help guide you back to the car park.

The route will not require you to leave defined trails/roads except when you actually retrieve the cache.

This trail is about an hour to an hour and a half long, and will lead you to the site of what we believe to be the first UK Hamster NIGHT CACHE!!!!! Within his sealed ammunition box, resides Wesley the Hermit Hamster - who some time ago took a vow to spend a lifetime of silence and solitude - he is the keeper of the cache and must not be removed - he is NOT a SWAP!!!!!!! He does enjoy a little human interaction and the opportunity to stretch his legs in between bouts of solitude, however he will need to be safely restored to his woodland home before you leave.

Park your car at the given co-ordinates, there with the benefit of your excellent torch ...... you will pick up the trail, which are reflective markers of varying colours.

Most of these are WHITE - if you pick up RED markers PLEASE put your dog on a lead as it means that you are close to a road and a loose dog may well scare deer out of the woods onto the main road - The Woodland manager has specifically requested that Geocachers adhere to this request and we rely on his goodwill!!

The cache placement will be marked by 4 WHITE markers in a line down a tree - this is your cue to STOP walking and look for the cache site which is about 50 yards from the trail and highlighted with more markers - Be Warned it is a bit brambly, but not problematic with jeans or other thick leg wear!

Say hello to Wesley and sign the log - take a picture if you can and enjoy the swaps. Please replace carefully.

Return to the path and continue down the track RIGHT. follow YELLOW reflective markers back to the car.

This cache has been placed with the kind permission of the Forestry Commission.
