Church Micro 2202…Margate-Holy Trinity
Between 1825 and 1829 Holy Trinity Church in Margate was built on an area of land now known as Trinity Hill.
During World War 2 on 1st June 1943 the church was bombed, the tower remained but was later demolished in 1958. Church services continued in the church hall until 1956 when they transferred St Marys Chapel, Northdown Park.
The Friend family who donated the chapel also donated the surrounding land to build a new church. On 21st October 1957 building started on the existing church, the church was consecrated in 1959.
Today the church is an active part of the community as a place or worship and as a community resource centre.
The local Sea Scout troop has dedicated their centenary celebration badge to the story of Holy Trinity Church.
The cache itself is located on a public footpath near the church, it is a nano so please bring your own pen.
If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
