Geocache Description:

St. Mary’s Church. Longfleet Rd. POOLE. I have since been informed it is not St Mary's Poole but St Mary's Longfleet. Sorry for confusion. Originally consecrated in 1833, the spire was added later in 1884 and additional building work carried out in 1915. I chose this church originally as my 1st church micro as I wanted to use the headstone of 2 of my ancestors as the clue to the location of the cache but……….. About 15yrs ago I found the grave and headstone of Timothy Churchill and his wife Sarah. (Seth’s Grandfathers brother) So I popped up there again to get the info and co-ordinates. I could not find it, only to be told by the church administrator that the headstone had been removed years ago? Why? I don’t know. He was only buried in 1956. I was also disappointed to see many gravestones were broken, knocked over, overgrown and some buried in piles of cut down trees etc. Again why? If anyone can answer these questions I would be interested. The church administrator didn’t think the graveyard was rundown. See what you think when you visit. Looks worse mainly around the back of the church. I have now chosen a grave that is easily accessible …. Rough co-ordinates of grave are above. Go to the grave of Elizabeth Hawkes She died April A BCDE Age FG Cache location:- N50 (A+B)A.(D-E)(F-B)(C-B) W001 EG.B(G-C)A The cache isn't too far away and should be easy for all. A little help may be needed at GZ if you have very limited mobility. Parking in many side streets opposite is a possibility I suggest near Garland Road or Birds Hill Road. Don’t forget pen, paper and maybe tweezers. Please make sure the container is not cross threaded. Wheelchair users may need help collecting this cache but there are no steps and the grass/concrete is firm Have a rest and enjoy the view. “If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats page found via the Bookmark list” Congrats to Alex.May for FTF
