Este local sempre captou a minha atenção desde tenrra idade. Sempre me fez imaginar o que antes ali se encontrava, as pessoas que por ali pisaram as mesmas pedras onde eu pisava.
A informação sobre este local, chamado de Caudelas pelos locais, são escassas, existiram algumas escavações arqueológicos na área, e foram feitos levantamentos de paineis de mosaicos e estátuas. Esse espolio encontram-se de momento em exposição no Convento de Cristo, em Tomar, e no Instituto Politécnico de Tomar.
As origens deste local, penso, são Romanas, e possivelmente mais tarde utilizada por povos Mouros que se estabeleceram na região.
No local reconhece-se umas escadarias, com aproximadamente 12 ou 13 degraus. Durante o Inverno a água escorre por eles criando uma pequena cascata. Ao fundo forma-se uma pequena represa, adornada por paredes da mesma época das escadarias. O local, pela pouca informação que consegui recolher, pode ter sido usado para lavagens de roupa e banhos.
Junto ao local foi construida uma represa em betão, possivelmente a meio do século passado, possivelmente destruido algo que podesse informar melhor sobre a verdadeira utilização do local. Sendo assim, a informação que deixo, passa em muito pelas sopusições. Mas a investigação continua, e espero um dia poder melhorar esta página com informações mais precisas, agradeço a ajuda de quem tiver mais informações sobre o local.

This local as capture my attention even during my childhood. Always makes me imagine what as been in there, what kind of persons have steeped in that rocks where I was standing.
The information about this local, called Caudelas by the locals, are few, there was some archaeological excavations in the area, and some panels and statues have been taken. The assets are at the moment, in exposition in the Christ Convent building, in Tomar, and in the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar.
The origins of the this local, i think, are Romans, and possibly, later, used by the Moors, who as established themselves in this region.
In the local, you can recognise a stairway, with approximately 12 or 13 steps. During the Winter the water go's over the stairs, and creates a small waterfall. At the bottom, as formed a small dam, adorned by walls from the same age as the stairs. The local, by the small information i could find, must have been used for laundry and baths.
Next to the local, as been build a dam in concrete, possibly in the middle of the last century, possibly destroying something that can give us some hints about the real use of the local. In this ways, the information I'm giving you, its based in facts I read, and some of my suppositions. But the research continues, and with the wish to give some more precise information.
