An easy walk with some lovely views at one of the many beautiful spots in Leura .
The purpose of this cache is to bring you to one of the many beautiful locations in the bush around Leura, in the Blue Mountains.
There is ample parking, with swings and a picnic area. The Leura Cascades are also a hop on/hop off point for the Blue Mountains Explorer bus, so this should be easily accessible if you are coming to the Blue Mountains by train. There is also a signposted walking track down to Leura Cascades from Leura train station.
In fact, the real cache is hidden somewhere along that track, as the Cascades proper are in National Park land. To get to the real cache, start at the carpark (Waypoint PARK) and follow the signs to "Leura Cascades" till you get to the published coordinates (waypoint WP1) , which is a 3 way intersection, made up of:
- stairs on the path going back up to the car park,
- a path over a bridge that goes about 10 metres to a cave, from which you can look up at the cascades,
- a path over another bridge which goes about 30 metres further to a magnificent lookout over Bridal Veil falls.
Make sure you cross over both bridges to get the views.
As you do, count the number of wooden planks that make up each bridge. Call the smaller number A,and the larger number B, then plug those values into this equation to get the final destination:

The cache is a small clip-lock container, with logbook, pen and room for very small swaps & travel bugs.
There is a lot of 'through traffic' in the final location, so check for muggles both ways before making the extraction please. Also make sure you put the covering material back in place so it can't be seen from any point along the track. You will not look out of place messing around with GPSr, log book, backpack etc though.
